I am living and working in Hannover and will be working in Toronto soon but want to see my family (they are in Portugal) before I go to Canada. The thing is my cat is living with me and I would like to take her with me. But I only have 1300€ and I need money in Canada before I get paid for the first time.
If I take her with me, I will have to spend: 150€ + 301€ + 231€ + 10€ + 35€ + 338€ + 185€ + 30€ = 1280€
If I don't take her with me I will only spend: 150€ + 138€ + 138€ + 338€ = 764€ BUT it's so hard to leave her!!! And I could always ask a brother to lend me money, although I'm not sure if he would help me, considering he doesn't approve of my taking my cat with me.
What should I do?

I thought animals had to go through a quarantine period when coming or going abroad. This is not true between Canada and the States where you just need papers proving rabies etc. but when I was planning to take my dog to Europe, each country had restrictions that included quarantine. Have you checked into this? Quarantine is very very hard on a pet, especially if it is for a long period. I would definitely check into that in each country and from each country on your agenda.Cats, being the more independent creatures they are, are most often, but not always, better travellers but that is a lot of travelling for even a cat. They also fair pretty well if left with a cat sitter and do not pine as some dogs do.
My personal advise is to leave kitty with a sitter. She'll be fine. If you bring her anyway, check into the quarantine issue before making up your mind.
