What is your view of Mews houses in London, do you like them or do you not?

I am trying to understand Londoners views of Mews houses and whether they consider them characterful houses much sought after, or are they considered inferior to normal street houses.

Please bear in mind mews houses can cost between £1million and £20 million (yes £20 million) in the best parts of central London.

They are very sought-after properties -- the prices you quote are all the evidence you need, really. =D
But yes, they are small -- and very expensive therefore in terms of £ per square foot.

For a time, years ago, I lived in a (rented!) mews house near Baker Street. It was lovely; very private -- passers-by never noticed it was there. It felt like somewhere that didn't belong to the modern age (narrow, cobbled street; no traffic rushing through; the 18th- and 19th-century buildings.)
Few of us in the street bothered with cars, though these days underground parking (with lifts) is the 'in' thing, using the space that would originally have been the stables.

Mews houses are generally most popular with single people and couples; they're not good for families.

Hope that's helpful.
