I also got 'period pains' at this stage, and was terrified I was loosing the baby.GP advised that all was well and its quite normal to get this. (if not accompanied by 'spotting')
Sounds like somethings different if you dont usually get pain etc, but if you are trying for a baby, its amazing what the body will do, to try and convince you are/are not, again your emotions could be all over the place because you are stressed out about it, or indeed your hormones might be kicking in!
If you have regular periods then that would mean you ovulated about 8 days ago, so its VERY early, try a pergnancy test, its not going to hurt to try. I tried one really early once, it was well before my period date, but it showed a slight possitive result. They usually come in packs of two, so if the first one shows neg, try again in a few days!
