I have a golden retriever and a siberian husky.

The golden has to be put down because he has cancer, and we will not put him through all that... But the husky has been with him for 4 years or so now, so will he be depressed when we put the golden down? They seem very attatched, like best friends.

Your other dog will definately notice the absence of the dog you are putting to sleep. We just went through that a few years ago. Just pay extra attention to him.

Down the road, you may want to consider getting a companion for him...whenever you are comfortable doing so. I HIGHLY recommend keeping a male and a female. Many times, having two males or two females can cause fights.
