While programs vary greatly, and in some countries begin immediately after high school, the programs are pretty rigorous everywhere including India where there is a reasonably high standard of medical education. India trained doctors are able to pass the various licensing examinations, those required of US applicants as well, and gain credentials to practice in the US (with similar experiences in Canada and Europe). In most countries the problem is one of getting into medical school as there are relatively few places for the large number of potential applicants.Do you want to study medicine overseas? Most US citizens, unable to gain admission in this country, go to a medical school in one of the english speaking islands in the Caribbean or to Mexico. It is my impression, nothing directly to support the conjecture, that admission of US citizens and residents to medical schools elsewhere is difficult or impossible. 100% 1 Vote
